Initial position of the board.
When the pieces are set in the board then white moves a piece at first and then players alternate their turns i.e they move their own piece turn by turn according to the rules and regulation of the valid moves.
Each piece has its own moving style.
NOTE:
It is illegal to move into the square occupied by any of the pieces but opponents piece(except king) can be captured by your pieces and those captured pieces should be kept out of the board.

king

It occupies one square in any direction –forward, backward, sideways
and diagonally. The king is the weakest piece in the game but the most
important one.

Queen
|
An unlimited number of squares can be occupied horizontally,
vertically and diagonally. It is the most powerful piece in the game. It power
point is 9.

Rook
|
An unlimited number of squares can be occupied horizontally and
vertically only. It has power point of 5.
|
Bishop
|
An unlimited number of squares can be occupied diagonally. It has
power point of 3.5 .
|
Knight
|
It occupies unusual squares in the shape of ‘L’ i,e two square straight and one square in sideways. It has power point
of 3.
|
Pawn
|
Two or one square forward on its first move and then one square
forward on moving it thereafter. It has unusual property at the time of
capturing the opponent’s piece. Its power point is 1.
